OCTAS®, developed by Fraunhofer IOSB and various partners, is a framework for the simulation of mobility systems, automation, robotics, and AI. It is based on an open, highly modular framework that allows to add and modify almost any aspect of the simulation through plugins.
Thanks to this design, OCTAS® is no single simulation, but allows users to create their own simulation, based on their individual requirements. Plugins can be developed by anybody, and be shared open and free, or distributed commercially, on a wide range of different systems.
This provides an open, flexible ecosystem and toolkit for modeling complex, open environments—as complex as necessary, yet as simple as possible, using flexibe levels of detail. Almost any aspect of the simulation can be added or modified through plugins, and adapted during the runtime of the simulation.
Whether you want to test your automated systems in early stages of development, analyze them via X-in-the-loop, or generate data for AI/ML training and testing: OCTAS® lets you combine simulation models, data, scheduling, and interfaces as needed, provided by a diverse set of open and commercial plugins.
